Really enjoyed the content you've got here. I think that when we take concepts that are usually taught a certain way and add some 'spin' to it (take home assignment, video, etc.), the students tend to respond really well. This reminds me of your post I read recently about how daily homework tends to be more 'drill & kill' than anything else. I'm only in my second year of teaching Physics, and I'm finding that students - both years - are incredibly irritated with the way I assign homework (and 2-4 problems are really not that much!). To be honest, teaching for meaning is a lot easier than fighting students on actually doing, and caring, about work!
